Event Registration

November 17, 2018 from 1pm - 3pm

At the Tijuana River Valley Communtiy Garden

2100 Hollister Street, San Diego 92154

You are invited to see the very start of this Carbon Farming project that will explore the potential for carbon sequestration in soil. We will introduce our new head gardener Gregg Cady who will be working the soil. He will talk about weed management and the carbon farming practices we will use. There will also be a short talk about soil health in the bigger picture of climate change.

Four carbon farming practices will be tested in a scientific research design on a quarter acre plot. These practices are: composting, mulching and two types of cover crops. If you ever wondered what it looks like to turn an uncultivated piece of land, full of weeds into food producing soil, now is your chance!

We invite you to a conversation about the benefits and challenges you face working to improve soil health. This will be a great opportunity to meet like-minded growers!
